Or even if they provide splitted tarballs, they will provide some kind of script to make a monolithic package like the previous releases.

That will give them time to discuss the packaging policy for the next 4.8 release.Willy Sudiarto Raharjohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12738382924950315620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534848307469799413.post-76055569397975163712011-06-19T03:27:15.351+07:002011-06-19T03:27:15.351+07:00Is there any news about KDE 4.7 and "monolith...Is there any news about KDE 4.7 and "monolithic" tarballs? I'm not a subscriber of KDE packagers' private mailing list, but I'm interested in whether KDE devs found solution to make old-style big tarballs and not just modularized, small ones.Lacinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534848307469799413.post-89975607304404637822011-06-05T13:12:39.186+07:002011-06-05T13:12:39.186+07:00Very informative. I have been using as well and it's well prepared for best usage on Slackware. It fits on all of my systems :)

Thanks for the efforts and i do hope KDE 4.6 will make it into -Current soon enough :)Willy Sudiarto Raharjohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12738382924950315620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534848307469799413.post-18279570102844317332011-06-04T18:50:39.162+07:002011-06-04T18:50:39.162+07:00KDE is my favourite desktop environment too ;-)
I...KDE is my favourite desktop environment too ;-)

I was never a big KDE fan (it was trying too hard to be another MS Windows but without much success, and it looked awful). I was disappointed when GNOME got removed from Slackware, but switched to KDE because it was the best alternative at that time.

However, when the first working versions of KDE4 were released to the public my view of KDE changed completely and I knew I had to embrace it. It fits completely with my ideas about how a desktop environment can help me in being productive. It also looks beautiful. And when you turn off the fancy desktop effects, KDE4 can run with decent speeds on old computers.

And believe me, KDE 4.6 is faster than KDE 4.5 so I hope that it will get added to Slackware-current soon.

The sources for KDE 4.6.4 are available for packagers now, and I intend to start compiling soon unless Pat wants to get 4.6.4 into -current.

Cheers, EricEric Hameleershttp://alien.slackbook.org/blog/noreply@blogger.com
