Kernel Upgrades

Slackware's kernel in -Current has been upgraded to 2.6.28 according to the latest -Current changelog which is released today. Along with the update, there are several packages which are also recompiled, such as gcc dan glibc. Also there has been some updated package as well, such as gimp. Here's the rather small changelog:

l/glibc-2.9-i486-2.tgz: Recompiled.

l/glibc-i18n-2.9-i486-2.tgz: Rebuilt.

l/glibc-profile-2.9-i486-2.tgz: Recompiled.

l/lesstif-0.95.0-i486-3.tgz: Patched to compile with gcc-4.3.x.

xap/gimp-2.6.6-i486-1.tgz: Upgraded to gimp-2.6.6.

xap/gimp-help-2-0.8-noarch-1.tgz: Removed. This is out of date, the newer versions are very large, and using the online help (which is the built-in default) works fine.

extra/grub/grub-0.97-i486-7.tgz: Patched to fix loading x86-64 Linux kernels.

extra/linux- Updated SMP to no-SMP kernel source patch.

isolinux/initrd.img: Rebuilt with newly compiled kernel modules.

usb-and-pxe-installers/: Rebuilt usbboot.img with newly compiled kernel modules.

Running Rsync Via Proxy

One way to get the latest Slackware updates is by running rsync to syncronize your local repository and the main repository that hold the Slackware packages. NVidia Legacy Unix Driver Update

NVidia has released an updated legacy drivers to support X.Org 1.19 with ABI 23. It has been mentioned in the UNIX drivers, but you can directly find the drivers from the links below:
NVidia 304.134 (x86x86_64)NVidia 340.101 (x86, x86_64) I have tested the 304.134 driver and it's working great here. I can finally remove x from my /etc/slackpkg/blacklist file since it's a showstopper for me.
Aside from legacy driver, NVidia has also released their latest driver 375.26 (x86, x86_64), which brings support for newer cards and also many new features (including X.Org 1.19 with ABI 23 support).

Three security updates were released for today:
